It can be tough to sell your products online. Especially smaller businesses competing with mega-sized and already trusted brands, who are selling similar products. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, though, and this light comes in the form of online ads.
Advertising and gaining recognition for your brand isn’t the same as it used to be in the past. The days where you had to come up with hundreds or even thousands of dollars for a radio or TV spot aren’t gone, but they aren’t quite as important.
Now, you can be smarter with your money, while ensuring, with the help of analytics, that your ads are targeting the audience that is most likely to purchase your products or services.
When Should My eCommerce Brand Invest in Online Ads?
There are a few questions that you should ask yourself about exactly what it is your business is trying to accomplish. One of the main reasons that many businesses decided to invest in online ads is due to a lack of visibility. Their keywords are not appearing organically, therefore they decide to use paid ads to help.
Other reasons are to drive off competitors and earn some well-needed visibility. You can also invest in online ads if you’re looking to boost sales of a specific product. With target ads, you can put that product at the forefront of your advertising plan.
Where Should You Advertise?
Answering this question depends entirely on where you’re selling your products. If you have your own eCommerce site, then those advertising dollars should be used on Google, as well as paid ads on your different social media profiles. You should use target ads on your Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and any other profiles that you have.
You’ll want to use different online ads if you’re selling via an online marketplace. Amazon, or Ebay, or any other similar site. If your eCommerce brand is active on these sites, then to get the best bang for your buck, you should advertise on these sites.
Target specific keywords, and spend the money on them in order to gain more visibility and boost sales.
Advertise Where Your Target Audience Is
While it can sometimes be daunting to feel as though you’re competing against the entire online community, it’s actually in many ways an advantage. Now, it isn’t about how much money you have to throw around, it’s about how strategic you can be in the areas in which you spend that money.
By placing your ads in the right places, and checking the data to see how well they’re performing, you’ll know for sure whether or not you’re putting your money in the right places. And if you’re not, then remove the ads and place them somewhere else.
Think about who your audience is, and most importantly where they are, and design your online ads around this.
